The Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) is Estonia’s leading public university for art, design,architecture, and heritage conservation, combining higher education with active research and innovation. Through its Department of Heritage Conservation, EKA contributes to the development of evidencebased conservation practices and interdisciplinary methodologies relevant to built heritage and material culture. The academy works closely with national and international partners, supporting applied research, capacity building, and the advancement of sustainable conservation approaches.
Fraunhofer IBP, the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics, is an applied research organization specializing in building physics, building materials, indoor environmental quality, acoustics, and life cycle engineering. In the context of repair and refurbishment, IBP contributes technical expertise on how to improve the environmental and functional performance of existing buildings while respecting cultural heritage values. This positions IBP well for climate-oriented refurbishment approaches that combine innovation, conservation, and practical implementation.
